Pete LaMalfa is a jazz pianist and educator living in Brooklyn, New York. Having recently returned from his time studying with George Colligan in the Pacific Northwest, LaMalfa is excited to be back home in the Tri-State Area. Pete has frequently appeared at bars, clubs and restaurants around Manhattan & Brooklyn such as Silvana, The Way Station, the Astor Room and Cafe Nadery to name a few.
Peter is passionate about promoting positive social change through music, and currently works at the non-profit group Resonant Motion Inc. He has been teaching piano for almost 10 years, working with students of all ages in Connecticut, Vermont, New York & Oregon. His laid back, but committed style helps students get excited & motivated to play music of all genres.
LaMalfa has had the honor of studying with a handful of jazz greats including Noah Baerman, Ray Vega, David Hazeltine & many more. He holds a B.M. & M.M. in Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase & Portland State University respectively.
